Autumn is a great time to hike before the snow starts to blanket the landscape. River Bend’s Resort is great if you are looking for a fall getaway. We are close to trails and parks so you can have the perfect fall exploration. Hike your way through the terrain and do not forget your camera. The picturesque fall foliage makes Northern Minnesota a great spot for photographers and nature lovers.
Zippel Bay State Park is a great place to hike or stroll the beach. The park is located on Lake of the Woods and is perfect for bird watching and capturing the fall foliage among the canopy of trees. Get there right before sunset to catch the sun fall beneath the lake.
Timber Mill Park is located on the east side of town. The park features walking paths to enjoy the fall air and also a pavilion area to break and have an autumn picnic. Timber Mill offers a public boat ramp if you want to take an afternoon cruise among the vibrant fall colors.
During your hikes take pictures and gather leaves. Collect leaves the are unique in shape and color. After your day of exploring come back and cozy up in your cabin. Grab your leaves and a journal and press your leaves into the pages. You can either leave the leaves there or wait for them to dry up and leave an imprint.
