River Bend Resort Fishing Report

Jan 21, 2021

Dateline: River Bend Resort Baudette, MN: Currently the bite has really turned on this week and we are seeing good numbers of fish being brought in. Both walleye and sauger have moved out into a bit deeper water near the 33’ mark where most, including River Bend, are fishing. In addition, we are seeing an average of 22″ of ice where we are traveling.

Though you will catch plenty to sort for your limit, big walleye within the slot limit of 19.5” to 28” are also being reeled in. And trophy walleyes over 28 inches are being caught. Among the mixed bag of fish pulled through the ice most common are walleye and sauger however we are seeing northern pike, eelpout, the occasional sturgeon, and perch as well.

Jigging with gold, glow red, glow white, pink lures that rattle have been effective. Making noise is currently they key to your success. Also, using a deadstick rigged with a plain hook or jig with a live minnow and a bobber set at 6 inches to a foot off the bottom is catching good numbers. Electronics are proving to be helpful to show fish, how they are reacting to your presentation and when they are suspended.

Ice fishing on areas of the river continues to produce some walleyes mornings and evenings. As ice conditions vary greatly on the river as there is moving water, we encourage guests who don’t know the river to work through a resort for safety.
